In 2016-2017 losses to fraud and other economic crime in the NHS were estimated at £1.29 billion a year.

All fraud, bribery and corruption in the NHS and throughout health and social care are unacceptable and should not be tolerated. Within your employment within the NHS, it is your responsibility to highlight and report any instances of fraud through the correct procedures.

Description

This module aims to give you a good understanding of fraud, bribery and corruption within the NHS and other health care institutions.

The content covers key legislation, employer/employee responsibilities, the different types of fraud, the fraud triangle, how to avoid fraud and how to report fraud.

You will look in particular at:

  • Outline what fraud, bribery and corruption is
  • Describe how organisations and employees can prevent fraud
  • Identify the fraud triangle and fraud red flags
  • Identify measures that can be taken to prevent common types of fraud
  • Know how and when to report actual or suspected fraud

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
